NOT MORE THAN ONE HOUR - 1ST PRESS RELEASE
Not More Than One Hour marks the first
collaborative project of Thin Ice and Rhymes with
Purple Productions, two Glasgow based theatre
companies that have come together to produce a
new and innovative piece of Scottish writing.
In a society where not even a conversation with
another human being can last more than one hour
how can a relationship survive? When all you
hear is radio ga-ga and internet go-go, when
inundated with News Report Tragedy and the
constant and less than subtle threat of total
Bush Related Annihilation it’s easy not to notice
that your relationship is crumbling down around
you, just like your patience with red tape
bureaucracy.
She thinks he doesn’t listen anymore. He thinks
she doesn’t understand. She’s always glued to
the television. He only ever wants to get
drunk. She thinks he spends too much time on the
internet. Who is she always texting?
What happens when you are in the same room as the
person you love and you don’t even realise they
are there?
Thin Ice and Rhymes with Purple are young
Scottish artists who after achieving separate
successes in their own right have come together
to combine their talents on Not More Than One
Hour.
Louise Oliver and Frodo McDaniel – directors of
Rhymes with Purple – are fresh from their latest
project A Work In Progress, an irreverent and
entertaining piece of comedy theatre that sold
out the Tron Theatre in Glasgow before going on
to complete a successful run at the Edinburgh
Festival Fringe.
"5 stars...very funny...a very entertaining brief
history of theatre". (www.edfringe.com)
"A great concept...laden with pop references and
approached in a fun and modern way...well acted
and personable...flamboyant, diverting and
frequently chaotic". (Edinburgh Three Weeks
Magazine)
“A real sleeper hit".
(Neil Murray - National Theatre of Scotland)
Listed in The Sunday Times as Critics Choice.
Fraser Gilmore – Director of Not More Than One
Hour - is a Contemporary Theatre Practice
graduate of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music
and Drama and has worked extensively in New York
with reputable theatre company The Builders
Association. He has also recently returned from
a run at the Edinburgh Fringe having worked with
Shalimar Productions on their 2004 New York
Fringe sell out Stirring and Squidge Productions
on Use Once and Destroy.
